What you'll get out of it

Practical skills you can use the week after, whatever your role.

Get better results from AI, first time

You'll learn to brief AI the way you'd brief a bright new intern. Give it a role, clear steps and a definition of good, and the output gets a lot better.

Stop embarrassing mistakes reaching your users

AI will confidently make things up. You'll learn a simple quality check that catches invented facts and bland copy before anyone else sees them.

Get your whole team working to the same standard

Right now your marketer, your designer and your product manager are probably each using AI their own way. You'll leave with a shared library of prompts, so everyone gets consistent, good quality results.

Put real user insight into everyday decisions

Most research gets presented once and then forgotten in a shared drive. You'll learn to turn it into something anyone can ask a question of, in the meeting where the decision is being made.

Design AI features people actually want to use

Chatbots, recommendations and assistants are turning up everywhere, and plenty of them are more annoying than helpful. You'll learn when AI genuinely improves an experience and how to design it so people trust it.

Who it's for

Anyone in an in-house team who shapes the experience your users have, whether or not UX is in their job title.

You run an in-house digital team

You'll get a clear plan for bringing the rest of your organization with you on AI, plus the guardrails and shared tools to raise the standard without slowing everyone down.

You're a user researcher

You'll learn to build a research repository people actually use, and personas your colleagues can question in meetings.

You're a designer

You'll go from real content to working prototypes faster, and learn how to design the AI features your users will interact with.

You're a marketer

You'll learn to create content around what users want to know, and to test your ideas against your audience before you spend the budget.

What's covered

Four live sessions, each 90 minutes long. That's about an hour of teaching and half an hour of discussion, so there's plenty of time for your questions.

  1. Session 1 · Tuesday 10 November

    AI across the user experience

    • How to brief AI so you get useful results, with a reusable prompt structure
    • A simple quality check that catches the mistakes AI makes
    • Using AI to find out what your users want to know, then write content that answers it
  2. Session 2 · Wednesday 11 November

    Turning customer insight into decisions

    • Building a research repository that anyone in your organization can ask questions of
    • Creating personas that focus on what users need to do, drawn from real research
    • Giving those personas a voice, so colleagues can test ideas against them in meetings
  3. Session 3 · Tuesday 17 November

Designing with AI, and designing AI experiences

    • When AI genuinely improves an experience and when it's a gimmick
    • Chat, agents, copilots and recommendations, and how to design each so people trust it
    • Going from real content to working prototypes faster
    • Testing designs with AI before real users ever see them
  4. Session 4 · Wednesday 18 November

What UX teaches us about AI adoption

    • Why AI adoption really stalls, and why it's about people, not the technology
    • Treating colleagues like users: finding the parts of their work they hate and where AI genuinely helps
    • Why building on the enthusiasts works better than forcing training on the reluctant
    • How you can help shape sensible guardrails and a shared skills library, without a committee for every decision

About me

Nearly 32 years in digital

I'm Paul Boag, and I've spent nearly 32 years helping organizations improve their user experience. I've worked with the University of Oxford, the UK Government, UNICEF and the National Trust, among many others.

I use this stuff every day

AI is part of how I research, write, design and even build tools for clients. So everything in this workshop comes from real work rather than a vendor's sales deck.

I'll keep things moving

I have the attention span of a caffeinated spaniel, so you won't be sitting through an hour of me reading slides. Expect practical examples, plenty of questions and the odd tangent.
